About the Event

According to reports around 18 billion pounds of plastic is leaked into oceans every year. Ocean pollution threatens not only the extinction of marine life, but also irreparable damage to the global ecosystem.

Protecting Our Oceans webinar will share insights into how ocean life can be preserved and protected. The webinar will cover:

About The Speakers:

Janett Tapia, AICP is the Project Manager leading the Dutch Resilience Hub at the Netherlands Water Partnership. At her current role she works with Dutch organizations working with partners all over the world build resilience in cities, rural areas, coastal communities and ports. In her work, she is exposed to innovative solutions from applied research institutions, water technology start ups, consultancies of all sizes, and universities specializing in water management resources, which she hopes to bring to this discussion. Janett has a background in environmental and urban planning.

Noortje is a young water professional with a strong interest in sustainability, international collaboration and resilience. With a background in International Studies and Sustainable Development and graduated with a thesis on innovative solutions for oceans and human health, she is always looking to make a difference in the area where the natural environment and society meet. She works at Netherlands Water Partnership as project officer for Latin America and Asia and is part of the team involved in the water track of the Dubai EXPO Urban Week.
